Remote productions

November 19, 2008

In 2008, Odile worked on a variety of pre-production and production requests emanating from different channels or departments at Swiss TV.

She researched stories in areas as varied as health care, the presidential campaign, the Iraq War and Meth labs. As part of those assignments she also booked guests and interviews and coordinated shoots with crews and reporters.

Thanks to today's technologies and the proficiency of virtual offices, Odile works for remote clients without having them incur many of the usual costs associated with pre-production. She coordinates simultaneously with teams located all over the map. She keeps all team members updated, thanks to blackberries and a web presence that can be accessed 24/7.

Case in point is this report she produced for the Swiss Italian news magazine, Faló, that aired on October 30, 2008, as part of TSI's overall coverage of the US elections. The story focused on the state of the Iraq conflict a few weeks before the elections. Reported by Mario Casella, the piece features veterans whose lives have beenfundamentally altered by the war, vets who have become publicly opposed to it, and interviews with presidential candidate, Dennis Kucinich, with Douglas Feith, former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy from July 2001 until August 2005, and with Peter Baker, New York Times reporter author of "The Final Days" published in August 2008.
